Ms. Gonzales has been a strong advocate for, and has helped hundreds of children, teenagers, adults, couples, and families to discover and utilize healthy avenues of communication. Through her work and training in Functional Family Therapy, her client’s report gaining self-awareness, an increase in their positive perceptions of themselves, and new strategies in breaking unhealthy cycles of the past that interfere with their ability to adequately function in the present.

Kathryn Gooden Gonzales believes that when relationships are unresolved, significant life stressors may occur. This can ripple into creating negative situations at work, with our spouse, and with our children. It also affects one’s ability to adequately function and address life challenges, and 'they stop doing the fun things that used to make them happy'. She understands that it is not uncommon for people to avoid taking on the obstacles to healing, but through her patient guidance, Ms. Gonzales has shown to have a great passion in being a part of the strength-based healing process. Her strength is in providing the necessary encouragement, education that creates positive change, and community resources to those who are struggling.

Kathryn Gooden Gonzales' excels in the applied application of a Family Systems Strength-Based approach that combines the methods of Family Based Cognitive Behavioral, and Brief Supportive Therapy for those who have experienced trauma, grief, and loss. Ms. Gonzales works from the belief that no child, couple, or family is beyond enriching their lives, and obtaining their goals.

Kathryn Gooden Gonzales' educational background began in 1992, when she received her Associate of Arts in Psychology from Belleville Area College in Illinois. Kathryn went

on to receive her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 1996, and a Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology from University of San Francisco in 2002. Kathryn has been Licensed with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (LMFT 50239) since 2011, and has been affiliated with non-profit agencies for the past 18 years.

Ms. Gonzales's greatest inspiration and joy is that she single-handedly raised her adult son, and her teenage daughter; both whom, keep her on her toes and youthful in spirit.

She is currently accepting new patients in her Private Practice, while also providing supervision to Marriage & Family Therapy Interns seeking to obtain supervision towards licensure. 

Ms. Gonzales as of 4/23/2023 received her certification as a Life and Health Coach with the Health Coach Institute. Ms. Gonzales  to nourishing this new side of herself.
